Vice President and Senior Search Associate
Martens manages candidate development and client engagement for executive-level searches in various nonprofit sectors.
Martens joined Koya from Isaacson, Miller where he identified and recruited leaders to CEO, president, executive director, and other leadership positions for a broad range of clients in the higher education, philanthropy, and nonprofit spaces.
Martens also brings over a decade of experience in education improvement working in the areas of federal policy and advocacy, research, coalition building, and K-12 student supports. Through this work, Martens regularly engaged with civil rights, social justice, and community-based organizations. Martens also brings nearly 10 years of talent development design, recruitment, and hiring of early-career professionals.
Martens serves as a board member for the Esperanza Education Fund, an organization dedicated to assisting immigrant students in the capital region through college scholarships and career mentorship. He is also a mentor in the DC metro area through College Bound.
Martens holds a BA in Africana Studies and History as well as an MEd in Higher Education Management from the University of Pittsburgh.
