Loc Truong has more than 20 years of experience working in a variety of educational settings, including K-12 public schools, nonprofits, and higher education. Loc currently works at MIT as Assistant Dean in the Division of Student Life. Prior to working at MIT, Loc spent 13 years at Harvard University working with both graduate and undergraduate students. He provided support and advising to first-generation, low-income college students, undocumented students, and students of color. Some his areas of expertise are diversity, inclusion, social justice, career development, and leadership development.
Prior to joining Koya, Loc was Senior Career Advisor with Commongood Careers for over 10 years, working with professionals in many sectors including those transitioning from corporate to nonprofit, higher education, and K-12. Loc is passionate about helping people find the right next step in their professional lives and brings to his work both a deep knowledge of career development and ever-changing trends, and a capacity for quickly developing rapport and effectively identifying each client’s particular needs.
Loc is currently on the Board of Directors for a community development corporation called Viet-AID, and recently led the organization’s search for a new executive director. During his free time Loc enjoys traveling, cooking, gardening, and going out to dinner with friends. He is in love with his new puppy Henry, who is full of energy and mischief. Loc holds an Ed.D. from Northeastern University in Higher Education Administration, M.S. in School Counseling at the University of La Verne, and B.S. in Biochemistry from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
