As a Consultant with Koya, Laura supports executive searches at social justice focused nonprofits by identifying candidates and project management. Laura brings a social justice lens to her work and is passionate about supporting DEI work at Koya and beyond.
Prior to joining Koya, Laura worked as a Program Coordinator at Silver Lining Mentoring where she supported mentoring relationships between volunteer mentors and young people impacted by foster care. She also facilitated cohort-based programs focused on practicing social emotional skills and supporting relationship development between matches with primary school age mentees and she was responsible for providing opportunities to build community through group events and mentor support spaces.
Laura’s work has focused on empowering and working in collaboration with youth and families in areas related to financial literacy, employment readiness, housing stability, college access and permanency. Her previous experiences include work with the Newton Housing Authority, the Steppingstone Foundation, City Life/Vida Urbana and Fundación FANA in Bogota, Colombia.
In her free time Laura enjoys practicing yoga, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Laura holds a Master of Social Work from Boston College with a concentration in macro social work. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and Women and Gender Studies from Hope College.
