Managing Director, Executive Search
Kara has over sixteen years of dedicated experience in the mission-driven executive search space. Based in Nashville, her expertise lies in leading searches for C-Suite and executive-level roles in senior leadership, development, marketing, communications and program for nonprofits, private foundations, corporate foundations and mission-driven private sector companies.
She has experience recruiting for a broad range of clients and has earned the respect of numerous notable national and international organizations working to affect positive change including Earthjustice, BoardSource, Colorectal Cancer Alliance, Make-A-Wish®, and the Volgenau Foundation.
Kara joined Koya from the executive recruiting firm DHR International/Jobplex, where she was a Partner. She has also served as Partner and Nonprofit Practice Lead of ThinkingAhead Executive Search.
Earlier in her career, Kara spent six-award winning years as a salesperson and sales manager with their parent company, Southwestern Advantage, the parent company of ThinkingAhead.
Actively involved in her Nashville community, Kara is an alumnus of the Young Leaders Council and a past Board member of the Nashville Repertory Theatre (formerly the Tennessee Repertory Theatre).
She serves as the current Nominating and Governance Committee Chair on the Board of Directors for the Sonoran Institute.
She is also a member of the American Society of Fundraising Professionals (AFP).
Kara holds a BS in Speech Communication with a concentration in Conflict Resolution from James Madison University.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, visiting iconic places in the Interior West, and spending quality time with her young family.
