Redstone is seeking an Associate Principal or Principal to join its dynamic and mission-driven team.
Partnering closely with clients, an Associate Principal (AP) will develop innovative, high-impact solutions to social issues, developing into a Principal longer-term. An AP is responsible for managing 2-3 projects at a time, leading relationships with current clients, and originating 1-2 new client relationships per year as they become more senior. APs are on the firm’s Leadership Team, take on responsibility for key internal priorities (e.g., people and culture topics, communications, strategy, etc.) and provide coaching for other team members (Associates, Project Managers, etc.) to play productive roles on client teams and develop in their careers.
A Principal will be responsible for originating and leading a client portfolio of high-impact projects. The Principal will exemplify leadership and will inspire trust and confidence across a diverse range of constituents. The Principal will be a member of the Firm’s Leadership Team and Management Committee and contribute to the strategic direction of the firm with other senior leaders, as well as growing and nurturing the talent and capacity of staff.
Both roles will be key contributors to advancing Redstone’s capacity and high-impact consulting practice. As an external leader, they will be responsible for cultivating and stewarding relationships, clientele development, knowledge leadership, and project management. In addition, they will be committed to enhancing the professional development of staff and act as a mentor and coach to a team of skilled and high-performing individuals.
They will bring deep experience at the nexus of philanthropy, the social sector, professional services, and impact venture development, or a willingness to dive into these areas. Ideally, the candidate will add to the firm’s existing topical and functional capabilities (public health, conservation, climate, global development, economic mobility, or education). In addition, Redstone is looking to grow their practice in the areas of social justice, economic opportunity, and strengthening democracy.

Redstone has offices in Boulder, Colorado; the San Francisco Bay Area, California; and New York, New York. The location for this position is flexible with some travel required. Travel will depend on client needs with the ability to be planned in advance. We estimate travel to be around 2-8 days a month depending upon where the candidate and their clients are located.
The ideal candidate for this role will be an entrepreneurial and thoughtful problem-solver who is dedicated to tackling some of the more pressing challenges of the social sector. They will be a thought leader for teams, a trusted advisor to clients, and see the potential for impact through helping clients achieve their visions. They will not shy away from challenging conversations, both within the firm and with clients, and have a desire to build a portfolio of high-impact work and a distinctive and leverageable area of knowledge.

They will be innovative, curious, and experienced in establishing strong working relationships to further a client’s goals. They will have the ability to form genuine relationships and bring outstanding communication abilities, both verbal and written. They will substantively contribute to the development of written content, articles, and analytic reports. They will enthusiastically represent the organization to existing and potential clients.
In addition, strong candidates will offer:
- Prior experience as a senior leader with a philanthropic organization, nonprofit enterprise, consulting firm, or public sector agency.
- Experience building and facilitating partnerships, coalitions, and initiatives.
- Experience developing and executing comprehensive strategies to build on existing networks and pursue new funding avenues.
- Ability to inspire trust, to guide and facilitate complex discussions, and to move from ideas to action.
- Experience developing new knowledge frameworks, analytical tools, and insights to guide engagement with client interests in a diverse range of fields.
- Experience managing/leading teams, including mentoring and coaching more junior team members
- Commitment to collaboration and the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship; ability to travel throughout the US and globally, as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience required.
Compensation & Benefits
Compensation includes a base salary that starts at $167,500 for early Associate Principals (higher for experienced Associate Principals and Principals) and includes the potential for a substantial year-end bonus based on individual and firm performance. Redstone also has a generous benefits package, including fully paid employee coverage for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short and long-term disability, 15 vacation days per year, 6 sick and safe days per year, 14 paid holidays per year, paid parental leave, donation matching, contributions to individual 401k plans, and other programs for religious observance, worker’s compensation, bereavement, jury duty, and voting.
