Based in Boulder, CO, Protect Our Winters (POW) is a nonprofit that engages and mobilizes the outdoor sports community to lead the fight against climate change through educational initiatives, political advocacy and community-based activism.

Founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones in 2007, POW works against climate change by turning passionate outdoor people into effective climate advocates. Reporting to the Executive Director, this inaugural VP of Development will lead the evolution of POW’s development efforts and will design and implement a comprehensive strategy for fundraising across major gifts, membership, corporate partners, foundations, and planned giving.
This leader will have the opportunity to build and mentor a high-performing team, ensure an optimal department structure, and engage, educate, mentor, and support ambassadors, board, and senior leadership in their respective fundraising efforts. Additionally, the VP of Development will personally and successfully engage a portfolio of major gift prospects and donors. This person will serve as a strategic resource development leader for the organization, helping to map out the organization’s long-term strategy and rolling up their sleeves to problem-solve and drive growth.
