Pencils of Promise (“PoP”) is a for-purpose organization founded in 2008 with the goal of increasing access to quality education for children around the world. PoP works with communities to build schools and create programs that provide educational opportunities for students, no matter where they are born or what resources they have. To date, PoP has built over 500 schools and provided access to education to over 100,000 students throughout Ghana, Guatemala and Laos, establishing itself as a leader amongst the innovative global nonprofits working toward sustainable social change.

Pencils of Promise is seeking an outstanding, experienced leader who also is an engaging and collaborative team leader to take up the CEO Role. Accountable to a 12-member Board of Directors, this position will be based in the NY area with ~20-25% global travel annually (when it is safe to do so).
The Board is seeking a CEO with who has strategic vision and will lead the organization’s execution to implement the strategic imperatives; and one who can effectively and efficiently manage the organization’s global operations. The successful candidate will have had deep and successful experience in the various channels of fundraising in their professional past, well versed in managing change and growth while driving for results through robust performance management. This person will have had deep experience working (and/or living) globally as well as high EQ and strong cross-cultural communication and understanding. This person will have a demonstrated Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging as part of their leadership journey and will have a deep passion and demonstrated commitment for the successful impact of PoP in Guatemala, Ghana and Laos (and potentially beyond).
In close partnership with the Board, the successful candidate will develop and manage the overall multi-year strategy, annual operating plan, finance and administration with their leadership team. They will be an ex officio, non-voting member of the Board.
