About Junior Achievement of New York

Junior Achievement of New York (JA New York) is the local affiliate of Junior Achievement USA (JA USA), the nation’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to own their economic success, plan for their future, and make smart academic and economic choices.  JA New York operates as a separate legal entity affiliate through a licensing and operating agreement with JA USA.

JA New York’s mission is to inspire, empower and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy.  Our experiential K-12 educational programs focus on three key content areas – financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship.  JA New York provides educational content, inspiring young people to learn how our economy works, how to plan for their futures, understand the world of work, and live up to their full potential.

A network of recruited and trained business, community, and student volunteers deliver our state-of-the-art curricula in school, afterschool and in workplace settings throughout the New York City (five boroughs), Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties) and the Lower Hudson Valley counties of Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam.  The majority of the students we reach and serve are from diverse, low-to-moderate income households and attend schools in high-need, underserved communities.

JA New York has demonstrated strong resiliency and financial stability over the past decade. JA New York programs have recently reached more than 100,000 students during an annual fiscal year. JA New York has cultivated partnerships between hundreds of businesses and other organizations, and more than 300 schools across Greater New York to ensure that young people are better prepared to maximize their preparation for and quality of life as adults.  Many of the city’s and region’s largest companies partner with us as a way to both make an impact in the community and help meet the demand of today’s business professionals for a meaningful volunteer experience.

JA New York is headquartered in midtown Manhattan and includes regional offices/staff on Long Island and in Westchester County.  The organization utilizes a Metro New York workforce that operates in a dynamic in-person environment and has a flexible & resilient model which enables its workforce to operate remotely, if necessary when the headquarters office, regional satellite offices, New York school sites and various stakeholder locations are not reasonably accessible.
