About Alexian Brothers Foundation:
The Alexian Brothers Foundation (the Foundation) is a faith-based partnership comprised of dedicated community leaders, physicians and Alexian Brothers associates. The organization actively pursues high-impact philanthropic solutions to the community’s most pressing healthcare needs with a special focus on healing the most vulnerable. Through the Alexian Brothers Health System, the Foundation carries out the healing mission of the Catholic Church and honors the legacy of their founders, the Congregation of Alexian Brothers.
In February 2015, Alexian Brothers Health System and Adventist Midwest Health formed a partnership as a Joint Operating Company (JOC), collectively known as AMITA Health. AMITA Health is focused on delivering the most efficient, highest-quality, faith-based care possible. AMITA is a new health system that integrates the founding organizations’ nine hospitals and an extensive physician provider network of more than 3,000 physicians.
The name AMITA is inspired by words from several languages: friendship in Italian, honesty and truth in Hebrew, and spiritual light and boundlessness in Hindi. These words reflect the core values of friendship, truth, and mutual respect for all, as well as the system’s faith-based call to healing. AMITA Health is about open, inclusive and compassionate care, inspired by a legacy of faith, and delivered with dignity and empathy.
In the communities, AMITA Health promises:
- To deliver the most efficient, highest quality, faith-based care possible;
- To embrace each person and each family as one of their own;
- To respect the faith traditions of all people;
- To communicate clearly with patients at every step of their care journey;
- And they promise that their sacred mission is one of truth and friendship in extending the healing ministry of Christ
The dedication and promise AMITA Health’s caregivers show every day to their patients, their families and to each other will continue to be the foundation of AMITA Health’s legacy from Adventist Midwest Health and Alexian Brothers Health System.
The vision of the Alexian Brothers Foundation is to have a profound, measurable and lasting impact on the health and welfare of the sick, poor, people with mental illness, the dying, aging adults and children of their community.
