ANDRUS is a private, non-profit organization that helps secure strong, promising futures for children, families and communities by promoting stability, increasing resilience, and rebuilding hope. We specialize in teaching children and families the skills to express and cope with strong emotions. We help increase the well of resources available to them to manage the impacts of adversity, particularly severe emotional, behavioral and mental health issues in children. Guided by our Sanctuary Model, we offer a range of preventive and restorative services for children and families across the tri-state area.
Founded in 1928 by John Andrus in honor of his wife, Julia, ANDRUS started out as an orphanage. Since those early days, the ANDRUS Board of Directors and staff have continually and actively sought innovative approaches and new ideas for helping children in need. Today ANDRUS is a family-centered organization that offers an array of ground-breaking, research-backed, and trauma-informed programs to help children, families and communities meet their full potential. Serving Westchester County from 14 locations, ANDRUS’ main site is a beautiful 110-acre campus in North Yonkers, where the agency offers residential and day treatment for seriously emotionally disturbed children from Westchester and surrounding counties.
ANDRUS is looking for an exceptional President & CEO to lead the organization to achieve even greater levels of impact in serving children and families in the communities in which ANDRUS operates. This is an opportunity for a visionary leader to build upon the founding values and long-standing track record of excellence and innovation to bring ANDRUS to the next level. The next ANDRUS CEO will have the opportunity to think strategically about how to raise the profile of ANDRUS locally and nationally and will help ANDRUS navigate the post-COVID-19 landscape. The CEO will lead a 560-person organization with a team and board who are passionate about the social and emotional well-being of the children, families, and communities ANDRUS serves.
ANDRUS is seeking a seasoned leader who is deeply mission and values-aligned and brings the business acumen required to lead a complex, multi-dimensional agency. The CEO will be a relationship builder who can build a strong partnership with the highly engaged Board of Directors that includes many Andrus family members, navigate the philanthropic and fundraising landscape to secure new sources of support for ANDRUS, and continue driving excellence and innovation in ANDRUS’ programmatic work. Previous experience in a senior leadership role, an understanding of the mental health and/or trauma landscape, and alignment with the culture and values of ANDRUS will be critical success factors for the incoming CEO.
