Amnesty International is a Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization that works to demand human rights for all – no matter who or where they are.
As the world’s largest grassroots human rights organization, with seven million members spanning more than 150 countries and territories globally, we work to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth, and dignity are denied. Amnesty is a democratically governed, grassroots membership organization, which means that our members vote on key policy issues and elect the Board of Directors.
As the largest country section of Amnesty International, Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) is part of a global movement of millions dedicated to pushing back against injustice to make the change that we all deserve to see – now and in the future.
This is a critical moment in global history that requires strategic and inspirational leadership. Increasing authoritarianism, global economic decline, and human rights abuses around the world and in the U.S. coupled with a global pandemic and a vitally important Presidential election, all make the work that AIUSA does ever more important. Amnesty International is one of the few organizations with the diversity, independence, and legitimacy to act as the world’s conscience.
The Executive Director will work in deep connection with partners in the global movement, AIUSA’s incredibly powerful and engaged members, passionate and talented staff, and the Board of Directors to advance the human rights movement in the U.S. and globally.
The Executive Director may be based in New York City or Washington, DC, and will extensively travel once it is safe to do so.
