Koya partnered with ACLU of Northern California on its Director of Finance and Administration search. The ACLU-NC is dedicated to the defense and expansion of civil liberties and civil rights for all.
Our work resulted in the placement of Jennifer Tapken.
Jennifer started her career providing direct services for a variety of non-profit organizations such as GLIDE, Jewish Family and Children’s Services and On Lok Senior Health. For the past 11 years she has worked for the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), a leading university dedicated to advancing health worldwide. It was here that she served in a variety of research, administrative, HR and finance roles and had the fortune of working with talented individuals who helped to develop and shape her towards the leader she strives to be.
As the Division Administrator for the Division of Nephrology she oversaw all the financial, research, and administrative operations that supported the clinical, teaching, and research activities within the Division. This included management of the renal practice, multiple dialysis units and kidney transplant unit, management of the ACGME Clinical Fellowship program and non-ACGME Kidney Transplant program and oversight of a robust research and gift portfolio.
In her most recent role she served as the Manager of Business Operations for Human Resources and oversaw all financial and operations needs of a unit of over 180 employees. She partnered with the HR Advisory Board and Finance Committee on administering an effective funding model for the support and delivery of HR services campus-wide, advised the Associate Vice Chancellor-HR and leadership team on finance and administrative matters, helped guide process improvement using the Lean methodology and developed greater operational and financial processes and controls to minimize risk, insure compliance and maximize efficiency.
She is proud to be joining an organization that has such a rich history and has been a leader and beacon for civil liberties and civil rights.
Jennifer is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Social Welfare.
