Simone Pollard is a dynamic leader who leverages her lively personality, critical thinking and business acumen to make an impact. Prior to Urban Teachers, she was the Senior Director of Business Development within the Global Education Division at Educational Testing Service (ETS), where she led global business development initiatives for the GRE business and managed teams in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. During her tenure with ETS, she led efforts to position the GRE® test as a viable assessment in the global business school market and U.S. law school market, resulting in 183% increase in business schools and many of the top tier law schools utilizing the assessment in admissions decisions. Additionally, Pollard led the global expansion efforts for the GRE® Program realizing a 67% increase in institutions outside of the U.S. accepting GRE® scores in their admissions process.
Prior to her role at ETS, Pollard was the Assistant Dean of Graduate Business Programs at the Villanova School of Business. There, she successfully managed several MBA programs and co-directed the revision of the MBA program’s curriculum. Her portfolio included the management of other graduate business programs, which also experienced enrollment and quality gains. Pollard’s efforts and leadership boosted applications, attracted higher quality candidates and secured an #11 national ranking by Bloomberg BusinessWeek. During her tenure, the business school’s MBA program was featured in the Philadelphia Business Journal and several national media publications.
Pollard served as the Associate Director of MBA Programs at the Eller College of Management where she redesigned the admissions, marketing, and corporate outreach efforts for the offices of Admissions and Career Development. Pollard led the respective teams in developing and implementing strategic recruiting initiatives. Her efforts propelled the launch of the Executive MBA program in Tucson and Phoenix by exceeding enrollment targets.
Complimenting her leadership roles in graduate business education, Pollard has experience as a management consultant and led engagements in the pharmaceutical/healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, professional services, and non-profit sectors. She has worked internationally and lived in Ghana and South Africa where she led consulting activities. Additionally, she was a production engineer with Monsanto Company/Solutia Inc. and managed the manufacturing process of various specialty and food grade chemicals, and led process improvement projects.
Pollard holds an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
