Maris Honor Harrington is the Director of Development at Great Lakes Center for the Arts. Known as a bridge builder and creative problem solver, Maris Harrington, a Chicago native, lived in Paris for 20 years and relocated back to the Chicago area in 2013.
Maris has over 25 years experience serving in diverse roles and organizations in education, development and fundraising, including as Principal and Founder of a multi-cultural communications, marketing and development consulting firm, and most recently as Principal Gifts Officer at Loyola University Chicago.
Since returning to Chicago Maris has been active in many civic and philanthropic organizations serving on the Board of Directors of the Counseling Center of the North Shore and the Women’s Board of Misericordia.
A graduate of Allegheny College, Pennsylvania, with degrees in French and history, She received a diploma from the Institut Catholique in Paris, and studied art and architecture at the Ecole du Louvre in Paris. She taught and played the violin in diverse chamber groups and orchestras in the Paris area, touring Europe on several occasions.
