Brett Beck’s Bio:
Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) was founded in 1958 by actor Hugh O’Brian, best known for playing Wyatt Earp on the television.
Beck started his career as a District Executive with the Orange County Council, Boy Scouts of America and spent 16 years there with the last 6 as the Chief Development Officer overseeing all fundraising, marketing and communications for the organization. While with the Scouts he led several capital campaigns including a $30million effort to develop and build the Outdoor Education Center in Orange, CA.
Beck moved to the Memorial Medical Center Foundation focusing on fund development for Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, CA. He developed the entire philanthropic program for the children’s hospital including annual giving, special events, major gifts and capital and planned giving including leading the $24million “Building for Children” campaign resulting in a new 124,000 square foot pavilion on the campus.
Moving from healthcare to education he took on the role of Vice President of Advancement for St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, CA, once again, building a development office from the ground up.
Beck is a graduate of the University of California Irvine with a BA in Economics, and a Certified Specialist in Planned Giving having completed the program at California State University Long Beach.
