LOS ANGELES (October 15, 2015) – Koya Leadership Partners is pleased to announce that Michelle Bonoan, an accomplished search executive with nearly 20 years of recruiting experience, has joined as Managing Director, Executive Search. In her new role, Bonoan will lead Koya Leadership Partners’ expansion in Los Angeles and help support its growing number of West Coast non-profit clients.
Bonoan has led executive searches across a wide range of industries and functions. As a specialist serving the Education, Not-for-Profit, and Arts & Culture sectors, she has successfully completed searches for executives at the highest tiers, including: president/CEO, executive director, chief financial officer, fundraising leadership, program management, and a wide range of other key positions.
“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle to Koya, as her experience in executive placement for the non-profit and education industries is the perfect match for the work we do for our clients,” said Katie Bouton, Founder and CEO of Koya Leadership Partners. “Our business continues to grow on the West Coast, and we needed an executive that could hit the ground running and service our new business in Los Angeles and help support our office in San Francisco as well. Michelle’s deep knowledge and established business relationships in the non-profit sector gives our clients the edge in finding the most talented executives to join their organizations.”
Bonoan began her career in executive search in 1996 with a boutique retained executive search firm based in Los Angeles serving education institutions, non-profit organizations, and corporations nationwide. She established the firm’s practice exclusively serving education and non-profit clients, and ultimately became vice president and education & non-profit practice leader. In 2011, she worked for a national search firm where she opened the Southern California office dedicated to the education and not-for-profit sectors to strengthen the firm’s brand in the western region.
Most recently Bonoan was a Partner with Heidrick & Struggles, one of the top four global executive search firms where she was a core member of the Education, Nonprofit and Social Enterprise practice. Her clients were nationwide and encompassed major non-profit organizations dedicated to education, social services, arts and culture, children and family services, environment, and health-related issues, as well as prominent educational institutions such as research and private universities, small liberal arts colleges, and independent college preparatory schools.
“I was drawn to Koya’s genuine commitment to the nonprofit and education sectors and I was impressed with the firm’s reputation and the brand that it has made for itself in executive search placements for non-profits,” said Michelle Bonoan, Managing Director, Koya Leadership Partners. “I’m excited to work with the team at Koya Leadership Partners to strengthen our presence on the West Coast and nationally. Koya offers uniquely deep expertise in executive search as well as an unparalleled commitment to strengthening the non-profit sector by helping organizations hire top talent.”
Bonoan added, “Koya’s mission and approach to its clients are strongly aligned with how I have worked with my clients for the past 20 years. I’m excited to work with the team and build our presence on the West Coast as it is a growing and underserved market that will benefit from both the platform and decades of expertise Koya brings to the non-profit sector.”
