Omaha’s Tri-Faith Initiative Names Rev. Donald E. Heckman as the First Executive Director

Koya Leadership Partners congratulates the Tri-Faith Initiative on the appointment of Reverend Donald E. “Bud” Heckman as the organization’s first Executive Director.

Heckman’s selection was made after a comprehensive national search overseen by Koya.

The Tri-Faith Initiative is timely and ambitious, and is the first place in history where three monotheistic faiths have built their houses of worship together with the mission of working in unison to promote dialogue, transcend differences, foster acceptance, and build bridges of respect and trust.

The $65 million Tri-Faith campus features a synagogue built by Temple Israel and a mosque built by the American Muslim Institute. The Countryside Community Church is under construction and is expected to open next year, and plans are underway for a fourth interfaith structure, the Tri-Faith Center.

Heckman has lived in New York for most of the past two decades and recently served as Executive Director of Religions for Peace USA.

Heckman grew up in Ohio and graduated summa cum laude from Ohio University. He holds Master’s Degrees from Boston University and the University of Chicago Divinity School.
