About the Associate Role

Our Associates are the engine of our work and must be both relationship and task-oriented. From helping to manage client relationships to juggling multiple projects at any given time, you must have excellent organization and multi-tasking skills in order to be successful.

The ideal candidate is an excellent problem-solver and communicator who loves playing detective—uncovering and interviewing potential candidates, analyzing clues and critical facts, and providing thought leadership to clients. Our Associates also assist exceptional professionals in finding meaningful work, enjoying the satisfaction of placing great people at amazing organizations.

Your responsibilities will shift search-by-search, project-by-project. At times you will sift through a large pool of applicants looking for that perfect fit. At other times you will lead expanded outreach to source more candidates. We’ll provide continuous training on the tools we use daily as well as our search process, and as you develop mastery in your role, you’ll find and create new assets and methods to uncover the right talent.

Above all, you will apply your passion for social change, your research and analytical capabilities, your knowledge and unique lived experiences to get the right person in the right place so that we can change the world.

About You

Your Skills & Competencies

The ideal candidates will bring a deep passion for the impact sector, superior organization skills, and keen attention to detail. You will be entrepreneurial and proactive in supporting a variety of projects and searches in a fast-paced environment.

  • Advanced writing skills, including the ability to edit, format and produce cohesive, error-free search and business development documents.
  • Ability to manage and execute on a number of diverse projects simultaneously.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to make progress amidst competing priorities.
  • Ability to communicate persuasively using multiple verbal and written formats (e.g., PowerPoint, memos, emails).
  • A high level of personal responsibility. Commitment to getting whatever is needed, done, on time, with a high bar. A sense of urgency but also the ability to remain calm amidst competing priorities.
  • Interest in contributing to and affirming Koya’s core values.

Your Experience

3-6 years of professional experience in roles that include:

  • Running a search process (either internally or externally) successfully from start to finish. If not a search process, a complex, multi-functional project that lasted for a period of time with multiple stakeholders.
  • Managing people in all directions—up, down, across the entire team—and when there are no formal reporting lines.
  • Utilizing exceptional relationship and interpersonal skills to ensure successful client relations and customer service experience.

Working at Koya

Our commitment to mission-driven work is also core to how we treat our employees. Koya is a place where employees can bring their full selves to work; team members are developed professionally and empowered to support the personal causes that matter most to them (which involves a generous employee giving stipend). We believe wholeheartedly that best-in-class service to candidates and clients can, and should, go hand in hand with being a best-in-class organization for our team.

Diversity is a deeply held value at Koya. We believe diversity spans gender, race, faith, ability, and sexual orientation and strive to build diverse pools of talent in our work with clients and track metrics on diversity as a performance outcome for our recruiters. We are proud of the results of this commitment: over one-third of the leaders we place are executives of color and over two-thirds are women. Internally, we believe in and strive to foster a workplace in which all perspectives are valued and welcomed.

We take our core values seriously and integrate them into our work, operations, and decisions.  A quick glimpse at how we work/what we offer:

  1. Team members are given the opportunity to work from home when necessary to fit their life schedules best.
  2. 4-weeks of paid time off each year in addition to firm-wide closings at the close of August and December (totaling 6 weeks paid time off).
  3. 3% 401K match with zero vesting required.
  4. A professional development stipend, tuition reimbursement, quarterly cell phone reimbursement, and additional wellness-related benefits.

At Koya, we don’t just accept difference – we celebrate it, support it, and thrive on it for the benefit of our team, our clients, and the communities we serve. Koya is an equal opportunity employer fully committed to creating an environment and team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, styles, and experiences. We encourage all to apply because we believe a diversity of voices leads to better discussions, decisions, and outcomes for everyone.
